Job description

  • Two year apprenticeship in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
  • Learning to install, maintain and repair industrial and commercial refrigerated equipment from walk in freezers to multiple air conditioning systems, chillers and Air Handling Units.
  • You will learn multiple interchangeable skills from pipe fitting, mechanical skills, electrics, fault finding and customer interaction.
  • This trade is varied, with every day a different challenge.
  • 40 hours per week, plus overtime.
  • 28 days holiday (including bank holidays).

Candidate specification

  • Motivated to learn new skills.
  • Must have excellent time keeping allowing us to meet customer’s needs and flexible in your working hours.
  • Over the age of 18, due to health and safety restrictions.
  • Maths and English GCSE grade C or above.
  • Computer literate.
  • Full driving licence, within 6 months of starting.

Qualifications gained

  • Two years, achieving level 2 NVQ diploma in installing, testing & maintaining air conditioning and heat pumps, through Manchester college on day release (typically 1 day a week term time).
  • Option to do a third year to achieve level 3.
  • Industry and manufacturers courses and certificates.
  • Health & Safety qualifications such as PASMA, IPAF & CSCS.
  • Hands on practical training by fully qualified in house engineers.

Pay (per annum) – National Apprenticeship Wage

  • 1st year: £7,280.00 plus overtime
  • 2nd year: £14,768.00 plus overtime
  • Once qualified: Typically, £20,000.00+
  • After 10 years’ experience: Typically, up to £40,000.00
